Are you Letting or Selling?
Curious how Energy Efficient your Home is?
Want to Save Money on your Energy Bills?
New legislation requires you to have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) if you are building, renting or selling your property. Not sure what one is or what it's for? Home Elements are here to answer all your questions.
What is an EPC?
An EPC - Energy Performance Certificate - is a document around six pages in length, that records the energy efficiency of your property. By law, you need one of these to rent or sell your property. Once you have one, an EPC is valid for 10 years, giving you extra value for money.
What is an EPC for?
EPCs are part of an EU incentive to help raise awareness about energy consumption and to help build an accurate picture of the energy efficiency of the UK housing stock. One national goal for 2050 is to have reduced emissions by 80%
How does it work?
Each EPC provides you with an overall score and a rough indication of how much you would be expected to pay for your energy bills. The higher this score, the lower your bills.
There are suggestions within the EPC on how to improve your rating. Something as simple as changing all your bulbs to low energy ones could save you around £25 per year and improve your score.
